Mid Coast Maine is a wonderful place to paint; we have everything from cityscapes to quaint fishing villages, working harbors and rocky coves…and oh yes…LOBSTER!!Everywhere you look, you’ll see beautiful places to paint! Rockland is located on Penobscot Bay, about two hours up the coast from Portland, close to quaint seaside villages, lighthouses, traditional New England architecture, rock and fir-rimmed beaches and beautiful harbors. Belfast is a tiny, scenic city about 45 minutes further up the Bay. And Portland’s Old Port is a fascinating location for a class! There’s plenty for a non-painting companion to do while you’re in class; you could consider making this a longer vacation!
We have great studio space in all three of our locations, to use as a base or if Maine weather doesn’t cooperate. There is plenty of parking in Rockland and Belfast…and in Portland, you don’t really need a car, even to get there from the airport! Some lodging is close to the studios, we generally carpool to sites, and you can walk to all the food, galleries, great shops and waterfronts from each of the studios if you’d like…it’s not far!
